United Kingdom: More than 500 inspecting woodland every day for ash dieback – but is it "too little too late"?
Telegraph: More than 500 members of Forestry Commission staff, many of whom do not even work in plant disease, have been deployed across England, Scotland and Wales, to spot evidence of the disease.
The Department for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has ordered every wooded area in the country to be checked by Wednesday in order to work out how far the deadly fungus has spread before deciding on any policy.
The task involves analysing trees across an area roughly the size of Wales.
